
15 Aug Training for the provision of rehabilitation services through horticultural therapy within project TIMOR was held
[vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern”][vc_column][vc_column_text]Within the project “Together for introduction of more opportunities and respect – TIMOR“, last week, on 11.08.2022, a training in Demir Kapija for people who will provide rehabilitation services through horticultural therapy, as part of the activity – Provision of innovative community-based social services was held.
At the very beginning of the training, Ms. Maja Velkovska – coordinator of the project, from the project partner organization ASER, presented the status of the project and the already implemented activities. Professor Dr. Zoran Dimov from the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Food in Skopje and Mr. Stojan Andonov, occupational therapist held the training.
The training aimed to upgrade the knowledge of professionals and assistants for supported living in the community, through presentations and group work. Attendees acquired skills for innovative application of occupational therapy using medicinal herbs and plants. The training for the application of horticultural therapy was held in accordance with the prepared Guideline for building skills for implementation of services for provision of rehabilitation services through horticultural therapy prepared by the hired consultants.
The application of the acquired knowledge about general data on medicinal plants and herbs (lavender, calendula, etc.) will contribute to the creation of support in daily active rehabilitation and a positive impact on the well-being of persons with disabilities resettled in housing units for supported living within TIMOR project and wider.
25 experts who received a certificate of participation after completing the training attended the workshop.
By implementing the activity, project TIMOR introduces innovative social services and contributes to a significant improvement of the living conditions of people with disabilities in housing units for supported living in the community. In addition, this training contributes to strengthening the capacities of professionals who offer social care and care in the community.
The project is financed by the IPA II 2017 action program from the EU support fund for education, employment and social policy, for a duration of 36 months.
The project is implemented in a consortium with:
- The Association of Special Educators and Rehabilitators of the Republic of North Macedonia;
- Municipality of Demir Kapija;
- The Special Institute Demir Kapija and
- Loza Foundation from Sweden
