Start of the monitoring visits to the organisations – grantees within the project Support to Social Enterprises by following the principle “Leave no one behind”

In the second half of November 2022, the project unit of the project Support to Social Enterprises by following the principle “Leave no one behind” started with the first round of introductory meetings and monitoring visits to the 6 grantees which were selected in the re-granting process within the project, whose contracts were signed in October 2022.

On November 21, the team held a meeting with WISE Group who are implementing the project “Transforming conventional wineries` supply chains into circular ones“.

The project during the implementation period aims to convert the conventional supply chains of wineries into circular ones. In order to achieve this goal, WISE Group has developed an innovative solution that consists of collecting the pomace, or marc (the solid remains of grapes) that wineries currently treat as waste and recycling it and turning it into new products from the food industry.

In more detail, it is a multifunctional additive from remains of distilled wine, which was obtained through the development of a technological process for processing remains of distilled wine, and the simultaneous extraction of more nutrients from it. Namely, the multi-functional additive has three characteristics, i.e. it contains a high percentage of antioxidants, plant fibers and serves as a food coloring (which varies from creamy to dark purple depending on the color of the remains of distilled wine).

At the moment, companies engaged in the production of food in their final product use three different additives (natural or artificial) to obtain these characteristics, while the additive of the WISE Group represents a unique product with three functionalities, which it offers to the targeted producers an ecological and above all, economically viable solution.

The project is funded by the European Union.
