16 Jan A Round table within the project “Clean energy for clean air“ was organized on 16.01 in Hotel Karpos, Skopje
On 16.01.2020, CSO CeProSARD team, within the project “Clean Energy for Clean Air“, organized an event at Hotel Karposh, Skopje – Round Table “Situation, Challenges and Perspectives for solving problems with air pollution in Skopje Planning Region – Proposals”. The project is implemented with the financial support of the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia through the Program for financing the program activities of the associations and foundations for 2019.
The event was addressed by Ms. Ana Petrovska – State Secretary at MoEPP, Mr. Nehri Emrula – Director of the Energy Agency of the Republic of Northern Macedonia, Mr. Stefan Bogoev – Mayor of Karposh Municipality and Ms. Tea Teveva, Project Manager coordinator. The roundtable was attended by representatives of civil society organizations Eko Svest, REC, Human Rights Reporters, representatives from the municipalities of Karposh, Butel and Shuto Orizari, as well as representatives of the educational institutions SGGU “Zdravko Cvetkovski“ and the Faculty of Forest Sciences, Landscape Architecture and Eco Engineering at UKIM.
At this Roundtable, the focus was on the current state of the air pollution from the residential sector and the opportunities for implementation of improvement measures to contribute creating a quality and healthy environment were noted.
In the second part of the session, challenges and perspectives for solving air pollution problems contributed to the round table presentation by the representative of the business sector – Agrometal through the introduction of an innovative product – a chimney filter for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Mr. Igor Pancevskis EBRD expert presentation on the GEFF program pointed to the possibility of using green energy through banks
affordable credit programs. Mr. Zdravko Stefanovski, energy efficiency expert presented the launch of a new project that will enable the creation of valid and applicable energy efficiency programs for the so-called MABs (multiapartment buildings). The target groups in this project are 30,000-50,000 households in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of North Macedonia.
The opportunities for citizens of the Skopje Planning Region and beyond to improve energy efficiency in their homes and to introduce “clean energy“ for warming and fulfilling their daily needs in their homes through the use of offered solutions and projects are great. Teamwork is needed in all sectors: civil society, business, education, local government and institutions, so that citizens` capacities are strengthened and that knowledge and opportunities for implementing EE measures in homes and the use of clean energy are implemented.
