5th of March – World Energy Efficiency Day

Every 5 March since 1998, this date marks the World Energy Efficiency Day. The initiative, which emerged in Austria during the First International Meeting on Energy Efficiency, aims to raise awareness of the need to reduce energy consumption through reasonable and sustainable energy use.

Contrary to what many people think, improving energy efficiency does not mean compromising our comfort and quality of life by decreasing our energy use on a day-to-day basis. Enhancing energy efficiency is based on optimizing production processes and energy consumption, using renewable energy sources instead of fossil fuels and promoting responsible consumption and recycling, among other things.

CeProSARD’s team constantly strives to promote the importance of energy efficiency and usage of renewable energy in our projects and studies implemented since the establishment of the organisation in 2008. With our first project “AgroEnergy“ 13 years ago, we worked on introducing of energy efficiency methods and renewable energy sources in the rural areas in all sectors of agricultural production. Today, we continue with our efforts and contribution in this area for improvement of the energy efficiency of hospitals within our project – “Towards Zero energy Hospitals in the Balkan Region – ZenH”.

In 2021, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, it is more important than ever that we hold this World Energy Efficiency Day, as the fight against climate change and the health crisis require a shared roadmap.
