16 Jan CeProSARD started the implementation of the ZeNH Balkan project – Towards zero energy hospitals in the Balkan region
The ZenH Balcan project is supported by the Secretariat of the European Commission, the INTERREG project, Thessaloniki – Greece, with duration from December 2017 to November 2019.
The project aims to facilitate the implementation of the revised Energy Performance of Buildings (EPBD) Directive by defining the characteristics and standards for zero energy hospitals in the South Balkan region. The project will also contribute to the improvement of energy efficiency in the construction sector, hospitals. Hospital buildings are considered complex systems because they have several energy intensive functions (heating and cooling systems that need to provide strict comfort conditions, high demand for hot water, etc.).
Project Coordinator is:
Democritus University of Thrace, Department of Environmental Engineering
Project partners in addition to CeProSARD, are:
- Albaforest – Centre for Forest Studies and Consulting, Albania
- Sofia Energy Centre Ltd, Bulgaria
- 3.1The Cyprus Institute Ltd, Cyprus
Expected results are:
- Preparation of EE standards and guidelines for ZenH hospitals;
- Improving the technical capacity of professional groups and government officials towards the concept of EE facilities;
- Preparation of a detailed analysis and testing of the models for improvement of 7 hospital buildings in near to zero energy buildings – NZEB that will be ready to seek financial resources for their implementation.
This project is funded by the European Union.
