Strengthening public-private partnership through the transfer of knowledge and experience from the EU and best practices for the establishment and functioning of the Local Action Groups (LAG) for Sustainable Rural Development

From 19.12.2017, CeProSARD started the implementation of the BUILDLAG project, funded by the European Union. Within the project, it will work on capacity building and the formation of new Local Action Groups (LAGs) that is in line with the EU integration processes. The aim of the project is to strengthen public-private partnership between rural non-governmental organizations, business associations and local authorities and thus enable sustainable rural development. The target group of the project are non-governmental organizations, business associations and local authorities in the Polog Planning Region.

The inclusion of all affected stakeholders in the project will enable development and their promotion, will encourage partnerships for joint activities and will contribute to the global processes in this area.
The final beneficiaries of the project are Macedonian rural non-governmental organizations, national and local authorities, rural communities and rural residents.

The specific objectives of the project are:

To increase knowledge and to strengthen the capacities of civil society and local authorities for the sustainable functioning of LAGs through the transfer of the experience and best practices of the EU.
• Establish a functional partnership between civil society and local authorities in a newly formed LAG.
• Provide policy recommendations to promote the LAG and the benefits of joining them.
• Raise public awareness of the benefits of forming a LAG and promote European practices and an integrated EU policy
